Showing Grace

Showing Grace

πŸ‘‹πŸ˜ Hello, FabYOUlous!Β

Wellllll...

I made a mistake. Lol! Yep, I'm human. It happens.

And while I would love to tell you that I float gracefully through life making all the right decisions and never messing anything up... That would make for a very short fictional story. Lol!

Recently, I made a mistake during a transaction on Poshmark. And that's where a lovely woman named Monica enters this story. πŸ’πŸ™πŸ¦‹

The mistake was mine.

Monica could have been frustrated. She could have been impatient. She could have made me feel terrible about something I already felt badly about.

But she didn't. Instead...

She showed me grace. She was kind. She was understanding. She was forgiving.

And she gave me the opportunity to correct my mistake.

It may have seemed like a small interaction between two people who happened to cross paths online, but it stayed with me.

Because sometimes it's the little moments that teach us the biggest lessons.

Monica didn't know me. She didn't owe me the benefit of the doubt. But instead of assuming the worst about me, she gave me room to be human.

And goodness... Don't we all need that sometimes?Β

Her response made me think about the way I respond when someone else makes a mistake.

Do I immediately become frustrated? Do I assume someone's intentions? Do I stop long enough to consider that maybe they're having a difficult day? Do I remember that I've needed grace before, too? Because I certainly have. And I will again.

We're all going to get things wrong sometimes. We're going to forget. Misunderstand. Say the wrong thing. Make a poor decision. Have an off day. Or simply mess up.

Being a good human doesn't mean never making mistakes.

Maybe part of being a good human is learning how to respondβ€”with humility when the mistake is ours and with grace when the mistake belongs to someone else.

Monica gave me both opportunities. She allowed me to acknowledge my mistake and make it right.

And through the kindness she showed me, she reminded me of the kind of person I want to be when someone else needs that same grace.

Isn't it amazing how one person's kindness can travel?

Monica showed kindness to me. Her kindness changed something in me. And now I'm sharing that kindness with you.

One day I'll be on the other side of a mistake and I hope I remember how Monica made me feel.

And instead of reacting, I'll choose grace. Then perhaps that person will carry it forward, too.

One little act of kindness can have a much longer journey than we ever get to see.Β

And yes...Β For a moment, this sweet woman restored a little of my hope in humanity.Β

There really are good people out there. People who understand that we're all imperfect. People who choose compassion when they could choose criticism. People who give someone the opportunity to say, "I'm sorry. I messed up. Let me make it right." And I'm very grateful that this time, I happened to meet one of them.

So Monica, if you ever happen to read this... THANK YOU!Β  Thank you for showing me grace. Thank you for allowing me to correct my mistake. And most importantly, thank you for reminding me that the kindness we give another person may reach much farther than we ever realize.Β You made me want to do better. And that's a pretty beautiful gift to give someone.Β

🌸 Here's a little thought:

The next time someone makes a mistake, maybe we can remember the times we've needed grace, too. We don't have to excuse everything. We don't have to accept being treated poorly. But when there's room for understanding, let's leave a little room for being human.

Choose kindness when you can. Offer grace when you can. Accept responsibility when it's yours.

And when someone gives you grace, let it change the way you give it to someone else.

Because kindness has a beautiful way of traveling from one heart to another.Β

And THAT will always be FabYOUlous.

Until next time...

Be kind to yourself and Be Your Own Kind Of FabYOUlous πŸ’πŸ™πŸ¦‹
