I really needed to change my perspective.
I absolutely LOVE trees, flowers, and wildlife, and I try really hard to create a peaceful oasis in our backyard.
I know not everyone feels that same way, and I respect that.
Three of our trees were altered (not by anyone from our household), leaving them lopsided and quite a bit smaller. I get why they did what they did. I respect their vision of what they want their backyard to look like. These altered trees really made me so very sad and upset.
Trees, plants, flowers, birds, and wildlife are so magical to me.
One of our trees that I love sitting and watching as our Daizy Belle is outside is so lopsided (a large chunk on the left-middle all the way up to the top has been removed. It was even with that right side). So I had to alter my perspective.
Some (maybe most) might not see the beauty of it as you look at the picture I captured of it, but I watch the birds make nests and the squirrels playing in it. I watch as it sways in the breeze, and I have watched it grow over time. While some see it as being a nuisance, maybe ugly to some, it brings me joy. I allow it to grow all willy-nilly and be its own kind of fabYOUlous.
This tree has been through some serious high winds, storms, winters, summers. Now someone decides this tree doesn't fit into their vision. However, this tree still has purpose, beauty, strength, and dignity, and the courage to weather whatever comes its way. I still love it and cherish it.
It made me think that just because someone else doesn't see your worth, it can never diminish your worth. We all experience moments that leave us feeling like something has been taken from us: someone's words, a disappointment, a change we didn't choose, a season we never expected. Sometimes we can't change what happened.
But we can choose where we stand while looking at it. That beautiful tree reminded me of something I'll never forget...
Just because someone else doesn't recognize your beauty, your strength, your courage... Doesn't mean you've lost it.
Just because life leaves a few scars... Doesn't mean you've lost your value.
That tree has stood through powerful winds... Heavy storms... Hot summers... Cold winters...
And now another challenge.
Yet, it still reaches toward the sky, still stands with dignity, courage, and strength.
Maybe we can learn something from that.
Life may change us. It may leave us with scars. It may even leave us feeling a little lopsided from time to time.
But none of those things determine our worth.
Our roots still matter. Our purpose still matters. Our story still matters.
And maybe... Just maybe...
Sometimes the most beautiful thing we can do is keep growing anyway.
Not every season leaves us looking the way we once did. But every season has the opportunity to make us stronger.
If today has left you feeling a little "lopsided"...
Don't give up.
Sometimes all we need... Is a different perspective.
Because your worth has never depended on someone else's ability to see it.
Keep growing. Keep standing. Keep reaching toward the light.
Yes, this tree will survive, and yes, I will too!
Until next time...
